Choose the practice your students need

All solutions are integers; some are negative from Worksheet 3 onwards. Worksheets 1-2 have positive solutions. Topics broadly progress across the pack, but questions within a sheet vary in difficulty.

Students need inverse operations, signed-integer arithmetic for the later sheets, and substitution to check answers. If your students are practising with positive answers, start with Worksheets 1-2 and use the key to select later questions. Use questions with negative numbers as extension practice where appropriate.

This is supplementary practice, with an answer-only key and no worked solutions or teaching sequence. It does not cover a whole curriculum: there are no word problems, graphs, inequalities, fractional answers or equations with zero or infinitely many solutions. Choose questions to fit your class.

Printing

Print equations-student-A4.pdf or equations-student-Letter.pdf for students. Keep the teacher files, reports and question data containing answers and full ZIP for yourself. In the combined PDFs, student worksheets are pages 3-12; print that range separately for duplex use.

The pages are designed for black-and-white printing at actual size. No physical print test has been made; try a sample page before printing a class set.

Checked answers

A program using the SymPy computer algebra system checks every key answer before the pages are drawn, solving each equation two ways and substituting the answer back in. A second program reads the finished PDFs back to confirm that they contain the same equations and answers. The teacher report lists every question ID, key answer and check result: all 80 passed. These checks address the equations and answers, not teaching quality, and do not mean the pack is error free.

Classroom licence

Print for your own classes, tutoring students or children at home, and share printed pages with those students and their families. You may share the ZIP with teachers inside your own school under the same terms. Do not sell or publicly upload the files, or privately redistribute the files or full pack outside your school.
